The new year is here and we are getting ready for holding a Haidong Gumdo (The enlightened Sword Art) workshop. Haidong Gumdo New Zealand is hosting a Black Belt Workshop from the 14th to the 16th March, 2023. Oceania Haidong Gumdo President, GrandMaster Jung Il Oh, will be presenting the workshop. The workshop series is designed to provide instructors with a base and a syllabus in order to begin teaching Haidong Gumdo in their training spaces.
Each day will begin at 8am and conclude at 330pm. On the 15th of March you will be invited to attend my club’s training at 6pm, with a possible dinner afterwards (it may be a ling day). Each day will conclude with a grading (no pressure). At the end of the workshop, 20 plus hours of our sword art training, you will have a good grounding in the basics of the art. The idea behind the camp is that you will be able to return home and begin instructing white belts, if you wish to.
For those who do begin teaching students, I will assist with on-going training sessions via Zoom. Next year follow up workshops will be held so that you can progress in the art. Taking part in these annual workshops will see you attain a black belt over the course of a three year period.
The cost of the workshop is $400. This includes a uniform and a wooden training sword (cost of $200). From our experiences over the last 3 years, we are not taking deposits. Please pay at registration. I will give you account details at that time.
